How to get your skin ready for skin needling!

How to get your skin ready for skin needling!

Let’s get your skin ready for skin needling!

But first, what is skin needling?

Here at Em’s Skin Boutique we use a medical skin needling device called Exceed – It has been clinically proven to treat acne scarring & visibly reduce wrinkles. It is also fantastic in supporting pigmentation, pore size and collagen synthesis.

It involves tiny needles penetrating the top layer of your skin causing localised & controlled micro channels (up to 900 microchannels per second!). The creation of these controlled micro channels instigates the regeneration of collagen and skin healing.

We hear you, skin needling is exciting and you want to start your skin needling journey ASAP!

BUT, we need to get your skin prepared first! Not all clinics have this prep process however we pride ourselves on being able to give our clients the most holistic experience & next level results.

Topical skin needling preparation

Our number one priority as corneotherapists is to make sure your skin barrier is strong and resilient, this can take between 4-6 weeks depending on your skin type & condition. We utilise our medical grade skincare range Dermaviduals to achieve this:

Step 1

Repair barrier with Dermaviduals DMS based products.

Cleansing milk with DMS

Customised cleanser with DMS

High classic moisturiser with DMS

Next up is feeding your skin with all the building blocks and co-factors for skin healing and collagen synthesis – this is the exciting part & takes between 2-4 weeks.

Step 2

Feed the skin with Dermaviduals actives

Customised Serum

Vitamin cream mask

Vitamin C, Zinc, B vitamins, Green tea & Coq10.

Internal skin needling preparation

Wait? So I need to support my skin from the inside as well? YES!

In order for you to achieve optimum results from your skin needling session we need to make sure that you have the internal cofactors for collagen synthesis.

Collagen is created from 3 amino acid building blocks called

The easiest way to get them? Protein rich foods & collagen powder!

We are obsessed with Designs for health Whole Body Collagen powder as it contains a clinically researched form of collagen called verisol.

Within clinical trials verisol has been found to:
1. Up-regulate the synthesis of collagen & elastin (hello plum skin!)

2. Improve skin elasticity & hydration

3. Reduce fine lines & wrinkles

4. Reduce inflammation within the skin

Vitamin C

Our other go-to collagen supporting nutrient is good old vitamin C! Vitamin C increases the production and prevents the breakdown of collagen.

Foods rich in vitamin C include:

    • Berries
    • Citrus fruits
    • Green leafy vegetables
    • Capsicum
    • Kiwi Fruit
    • Camu Camu powder
    • Kakadu Plum powder

To make life easier we sell Amazonia Raw Vitamin C powder which contains high dose vitamin C fruits & vegetables.

Iron is not something that many of us think about when it comes to skin health & collagen synthesis.

Iron plays an important role as a cofactor for enzymes that are involved in collagen synthesis.

Now too much or too little iron can present with the same symptoms, it’s absolutely vital to check your iron levels before supplementing. If you suspect low iron levels, have a chat to your local health professional. If you need additional support with internals we offer Naturopathy consultations via zoom.

Foods rich in Iron include:

  • Red meat
  • Seafood
  • Kidney beans & lentils
  • Dark green leafy vegetables
  • broccoli & brussel sprouts
  • dried fruit (raisins & apricots)
  • sesame/pumpkin seeds
  • blackstrap molasses.

It’s go time!
